Black Friday

Did some Black Friday shopping today. Though we did not get up in the wee hours of the morning, we were fairly successful in our shopping. Later on we went out looking for a Christmas tree with my parents for their house. It was very cold, but we found one. Tonight we saw the new Karate Kid movie. The location shots of China brought back a few memories.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We drove up to Green Bay from Peoria yesterday. We had freezing rain for a couple hours early in the trip - the overpasses were quite slick and we were delayed at the I-39 Abraham Lincoln Bridge for about a half hour. Later in the trip the weather dried up, and it did not snow until well after we arrived. We had chili for supper and did haircuts. Today was probably Katie's first Thanksgiving. We saw some turkeys out and about - they did not look scared. We went to church, watched the end of the Macy's parade (Katie's pointing at Santa's bag on the TV), did a Skype call to my brother, shopped at Harbor Freight (feel kind of dirty about that), ate a Thanksgiving dinner buffet at a local restaurant (we had a reservation, but it was not needed), and watched TV like football, "How to Train Your Dragon", and the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving specials. It was a pretty relaxing day.

Mid-November

Yesterday was Karen's and my 900-week anniversary. We do not keep real close track of such things, but the number came up and we noticed it this time. The semester rumbles forward for us. Here is a verse:

September plods slowly.
October sneaks past.
November runs quickly.
December’s a flash.

The pix are of Kris and Katie painting for fun, and of Katie trying out Kris's snowshoes in a leaf pile. I was hoping to put up Christmas lights this weekend, but schedules and windy weather did not permit it. No snow yet.

Nearly 900 Saturdays

Sorry, this is a little haphazard. This weekend we drove up to Green Bay to attend the wedding of one of my first cousins, Chase. My brother Dace and sister Tina were also able to travel from their respective out-of-state locations. We got to see a lot of people. The cermony was nice (and Tina loaned Katie her camera to keep her occupied). After the ceremony we got to briefly see Karen's parents visiting from Sturgeon Bay. We went to church later in the day at St. Bernard's in Green Bay, where Karen and I were wed and where Kris was baptized (she is posing next to her baptismal font). It was nice to see the place and stir a few memories. Two of the songs they played at the Mass were ones played at our wedding, which was (I think) 898 weeks ago. Afterward we went to the reception and ate, danced, and socialized. It was fun to watch Karen, Kris, and Katie dance. It was a whirlwind weekend, but fun was had.
