Seattle to Austin

After a good trip to Seattle we headed back to Austin. On the way back, Mt. Rainier showed herself to us - we had a good trip, but my biggest disappointment was that the schedule and the weather converged to keep us from visiting Mt. Rainier. Even on the flight out of Seattle I misguessed the plane route and did not get a close look at Mt. Rainier. But, on the plus side I saw lots of other Cascade volcanoes: Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, The Three Sisters, and maybe Mt. Mazama in the distance but I could not see Crater Lake inside it. We also saw Seattle again, the Tacoma Narrows bridge, wildfires in Washington and Oregon, and the Grand Canyon again. We got a nice view of downtown Austin and the state capitol that night. We got back to our apartment from the airport around midnight, it was about 88 F. Since that time the highs have decreased down to the lot 90s to mid 80s. Austin had its 160th day above 90 F yesterday - another record broken. We have seen a few raindrops - we hope we get some serious rain soon.
