Visit to Abraham Lincoln's Home

Today we drove down to Springfield to visit Abraham Lincoln's house.  We met our friends the Blands there (and for some ice cream). Katie earned a Junior Ranger badge. I am standing on the front porch of the Dean House near the Lincoln house - not that it was (windy) T-shirt weather in the 60s. My favorite thing to see at the whole site is Lincoln's little writing desk in his bedroom.  I like to imagine him in his tall frame squeezed into that little desk working on some of his landmark speeches.

Patriotic Program

Katie was in the Patriotic Program at Peoria Christian Elementary School yesterday, where the kids dress up like and give short biographies of figures in U.S. history.  She played Pocahontas and did a good job.  My parents visited for the event.

Kristine in IMEA

Kristine sang in a choir at the Peoria Civic Center at the Illinois Music Educator Conference. The concert was excellent.  Katie has been practicing recorder for school.
