Ides of March

Warm day (high of 77) leading to severe weather in the area tonight. We hunkered down and thankfully are OK. We have a daffodil open in our yard, and there were moths by the blossoms on the maple tree.

Geode Hunting in Hamilton, IL

I have been reading about hunting geodes in the Keokuk, IA, area, so on Saturday I drove over to the the Mississippi River and hunted fossils and geodes.  I found geodes near David's Chamber (south of Nauvoo, IL, the Mormon temple in Nauvoo is shown in the pictures) and in the gravel beds of the creek at Wildcat Springs Park (in Hamilton, IL).  I found both broken and intact geodes.  Signs of spring are popping up, including frogs near the Mississippi River area and crocus blossoms at church this morning.  I got to play with one of my godsons today.
