Still warm for now

It is interesting when it gets gets warm and humid how the light turns sort of yellowish outside, whether it is cental Texas or central Illinois.  We got over 0.7 inches of rain early this morning, over three times what we had the whole month of April. The Edwards Aquifer that underlies the area dropped 19 feet last month and has initiated a new round of water restrictions.  Apparently there was spectacular lightning that messed up power and caused some interesting vibrations in one neighborhood, see: http://www.kxan.com/dpp/news/local/austin/vibrating-houses-in-harris-branch. More hit and miss storms in the area tonight  - dry here so far, but ping-ping ball sized hail near Llano.  With the rain, out come the snails, and the fire ants start building up their nests.  I accidentally stepped on nest one too long with a sandal today and got a couple annoying stings on my foot.  We have heard, however, that their invasion has significantly reduced the scorpion population in the area - we have not seen any.  Here is a picture of flowers near a puddle.  Also, here is a interesting anti-drunk driving campaign we saw at the wine festival yesterday.
