Church Picnic

Today St. Anthony's had their church picnic. Karen left early to set up; Kris, Katie, and I rode our bikes there. In addition to being a potluck, the picnic also featured a central Illinois favorite: pork tenderloins. These are sometimes breaded but here they were barbequed. As the picture shows they are often are much bigger than the bun used to hold them. The picnic had about five rounds of bingo and Katie and Kris each won a round (definitely a statistical anomaly) and got houseplants for prizes. Tonight we watched the movie "Godspell". Never saw it before, but I know several of the songs because my grade school music teacher (Mrs. Pischke, who passed away recently) taught them to me. Interesting interpretation of the Gospel - can definitely see the Jesus Movement influence. We were also surprised to see a very young Victor Garber as Jesus and a big musical number on the top of the World Trade Center still under construction. Disappointed the movie stopped short of the resurrection.
